9 days in Auckland – itinerary

The usual itineraries offered by tour agencies are not interesting and the only way to have the maximum amount of fun within my stay is to organise the itinerary myself. So here is the plan. My first ang moh country travel with my husband:

26 Nov

– arrive at Auckland at 3 pm

– after checking into Mercure hotel, explore Parnell Road and its vicinity

– visit Ewelme cottage (in the Parnell area)

– dinner at Parnell – veranda bar & grill

27 Nov

– 10 am to 2 pm – Explore South Auckland volcano, Ambury Regional Park and One Tree hill. Enjoy picnic lunch, the mountain view and the sheeps!

– Skycity dinner buffet + taking panorama photos at observatory deck (before the sunset and in the night time)

– explore night life in CBD

28 Nov

– hop on to Explorer Bus to visit Mt Eden, Zoo and the Auckland Museum

– lunch at Auckland’s fish market

– dinner at Ponsonby (the hippest strip of Auckland)

29 Nov

– take ferry to Waiheke island in the morning

– after checking in to the B&B Lodge, explore the island

– dinner – BBQ? Cook? Eat out?

30 Nov

– Waiheke island adventure / hiking / vineyard tour continue

– Whakanewha park hiking

1 Dec

– return ferry to Auckland in the morning (8 am)

– after checking in to another hotel (this time round with free Wifi), join a guided tour organised by a wine company. Wine-tasting, honey-tasting, vast of scenic vineyard views, Gannot and the famous black sand beach

– dinner at Viaduct harbor

2 Dec

– 5.30 am Pick up for Hot Air Balloon adventure. To view Sunrise and enjoy breakfast

– lunch in Auckland Central

– Explore Aotea Square market

– Visit other destinations on Explorer Bus

3 Dec

– full day tour at Waitakere Range, seashore, rainforest (with picnic lunch)

4 Dec

Sounds good? I hope it won’t disappoint me.
