Another riveting read from Jodi Picoult:

He knew better than anyone that you could not trust a woman who said she was telling the truth.

All it takes is a second and your whole life can get turned upside down.

I think that all of us have got our ghosts.

She was doing this because she knew what it was like to hit rock bottom and to need someone to give you a leg up.

What she didn’t understand was that what you had could never make up for what you’d lost.

Words, he knew, could scar.

Raw love, like raw heartache, could blindside you.

Ignorance. A very nice segue to bliss.

After a certain point, a heart with so many stress fractures would never be anything but broken.
