We joined a half day tour with Time Unlimited. There was a certain intimacy for small tour group, which both of us loved. And of course, it was charming to have a local Maori guide to introduce Auckland to us.
Our first stop was Mt Eden. We are blessed with the good weather. The visibility was quite amazing.
After that we visited the famous One Tree Hill, which is now a No Tree Hill.
The green was invigorating at the Mangere Mountain.
The next stop was the Ambury Regional Park, where we took a foreshore walk at the Manukau Harbour.
Love this place. Sunny (though a bit harsh), least pollution, fresh air, cool wind …. less people.
Later on, we visited the Otuataua Stonefields Historic Reserve, which was created in 2001. It is managed by the Manukau City Council. Otuataua is an important archaeological site and educational resource where one can see clearly how people used to live and interact with their environment.
The tour ended at the Fish Market, where we tried the famous fish and chips. After the snack, we found our way to the top of Sky tower, where I had reserved a dinner buffet for 2. *Smile*
The view was indeed a bird’s eye view, however, not exactly an interesting layout.
