Corrinne May

One of Hubby’s colleagues gave us two tickets to Corrine May’s concert at Garden by the Bay some time back. It was held over the open field, and of course free seating. My first experience of such concert. Although the weather was humid and hot, everyone was in good mood.

Her songs are good. I thoroughly enjoyed them. Many of them are said to be Christian songs, but they sound so good that I find myself loving the melody and the meaningful lyrics.

If only the Singapore flag was facing us the right way … it would have been a great picture.

loved the fact that the sides of the walk way were planted with orchids … lovely .. and I know, very expensive. *smile*

Rattana Thai Restaurant @ Tanjong Pagar Plaza

Hubby bought a Groupon voucher for this Rattana Thai Restaurant at $30 for 2 pax. It’s located at an interesting junction where one side is the one of the busiest business district, while on the other side is the old Tanjong Pagar Plaza. What totally surprised me is the fact that there are HDB flats around the area. I wonder how much these apartments cost. It’s no surprise that many are willing to pay the sky high price when your not-so-humble abode is a 5-minute stroll from your office.

The food was average. I don’t know why the meal was meant for 2 pax when there were only 3 prawns. And the staff came to inform us that there was durian ice cream and only returned again to disappoint us. When the ice cream was served, one third of it has melted, and the staff explained, although apologetic, that someone did not shut the fridge properly.

… …

As if I care about your fridge. If the food was not presentable, why did you still serve this food?

One can tell so much from these little incidents…

Am I missing something here? Look at the receipt above. There was $3 charged as the service charge $30 Groupon voucher (yeah, they do charge even if the service was not up to standard), and then there was another overall service charge. A service charge for a service charge?

Sounds like a scam?

If my hubby had not stopped me, I would have asked them explain this wonderfully uncomfortable logic to me.

Lastly, perhaps they did not thank us verbally when we left the place was because there was a “Thank You” on the receipt. Oh, it also asked us to return again. However, looking at how their jaw-dropping accounting skills has stunned me, I guess it’s hard to return for a second try.

Staycation at Wangz hotel

This was how our last Christmas looked like. Probably our last staycation as a couple (with no baby).

Wangz hotel was good… located in an interesting area. If I were not pregnant (and i.e. no energy), I would be spending a whole afternoon snapping photos around the neighborhood. I guess I can only wait till baby Taylor is old enough to accompany me on photo walk. 🙂

I hope my dearest hubby enjoyed the weekend as much as I did

And before we left the place, we spent some zone-out time at the Dispensary.

Please visit this link for one of the most h.i.l.a.r.i.o.u.s clips (I’ve ever watched): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72BMJ3NfHlE

I have watched almost all his videos, and can’t help but feel that the videos are produced by a family full love and fun. I hope my son will be at least half as cute as him.

The trouble with package tours… …

Life is short. Money is limited. All fellow travellers with unsatiable wanderlust will agree with these two statements.

Library shelves are full to the brim with all the travel books about exciting destinations, constantly reminding me that there are still another 100, 500 or even 1001 trips I have to conquer before my death comes.

So you can imagine how fuming mad I was when for two consecutive years, the same travel agency cancelled my trip to Turkey because there weren’t enough people to form the tour group.

This is the trouble with a less-than-popular destination with a small travel agency. Even the alternatives the small agency has are quite pathetic.

For my husband and I, we now feel safer to go for 2-to-go tour or we settle our own flights and get local land tour to help us with accommodation and tour.

Now, I have to wait till end of next week to confirm my trip in June. There are several options but I still hope ultimately I can conquer Turkey this year.
